Muruga: The word itself is the mantra of charm, splendor, beauty, knowledge and power. People worship him, admire him, worship him, respect him and love him because they find that he has a divine and magnetic attraction. Muruga, the god of love and compassion, exerts a great influence on people. In Palani, we find a human ocean, through which the stream of devotion prevails. What drives them all towards Muruga?

The belief is so strong that devotees believe that Muruga comes into their lives and accepts them as God, helps them as a friend, guides them as Guru and is a protect them as saviors. How did they get this belief? What is the moving force behind it? It can never be explained, only one can experience it whose heart is full of devotion.

However, the Kanda Puranam which describes the origin, purpose and life history of Muruga, indicates how Muruga has been regarded as the supreme power. Puranam describes Muruga as a unique and extraordinary force. He was not born naturally. He was created from the mighty flame of fire that emanated from the third eye of Lord Shiva, the eternal reality. Though originated from Shiva, he excelled in Shiva's wisdom and power. He also acted as Shiva's guru and gave him enlightened advice. Such a unique power named Muruga was created to destroy the demon Suryapadman, who was blessed with immortality and was created to save the devotees from the world of illusion.

In this way such a power has come in Muruga which is incomparable. He is known as a symbol of wisdom. He is known as the almighty. She is known as the embodiment of beauty.
