Shiv Rudrabhishek is one of the most worshipped in vedic ritual - Lord Shiva is also known as Rudra - which represents his fiery form. Shiva Rudrabhishekam refers to the ritual bathing of the Shiva Lingam. It is one of the most important and popular ceremonies to please Lord Shiva and is seen as the greatest spiritual worship in all Vedic scriptures. By performing this puja, one gets health, wealth and happiness and protection from enemies, negativity and evil.

Rudrabhishek Method (Vidhi)

The Shiva Lingam is first washed with water with continuous chanting of the Vedic Mantra - Rudra Sukta, which is known as Shiva Rudrabhisheka Mantra. Mix cow's milk, coconut water, rice, powdered sugar, ghee, curd, honey, sugarcane juice etc. and offer it on Shivling.

Vedic Sadhaks perform Rudrabhishek which begins with Lakshmi Ganesh Puja in the morning. After this, while chanting the Rudrabhishek mantra, using the above items, the Shivling is anointed throughout the day.

Later, lotus flowers are specially used to decorate the Shivling and apart from the flowers, leaves of the Bilva Patra tree are also used for decoration. After all these rituals, aarti of 108 diyas is performed at the end and Prasad is distributed among the devotees and devotees who attend the puja.
